Just try to sleep here!

It is cold outside! Just try sleeping in this bed with all 3 of our boys getting cozy.

The 3 boys try to share a spot.

Our weird, frightened kitty Hazel went to live with a new family. When she was gone, all three boys tried to share her little spot in Melissa's room. Ivan was there first, but the big fat Simon pushed his way in, and Jack had to join the party.

The Denver Art Museum

Denver Art Museum (DAM like my initials) is really an amazing structure. Chuck and I went there on Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. We saw a bunch a great modern art, a lot of fantastic sculptures, and a traveling exhibit from Santa Fe.

Mom's gift to Chuck and Deb

Last Christmas, my Mom, Barbara gave us a really special gift. She reserved a room for us at Zion's Lodge. This is the view from our room on Halloween Day 2008. The trip was great, the room so nice, and the view, outstanding! As we sat having cocktails a little bat came and flew around our heads, he must have known it was Halloween. Then 3 deer walked within 10 feet of our balcony. Thank you, Mom, it was wonderful.

Hiking the Zion Narrows

This is the beginning of The Zion Narrows. Chuck really wanted to see it. We were prepared, but the water was 50° and the air was cool and crisp!

The trees down in the canyon were all colors, and absolutely beautiful. We only saw the sun for a few minutes though.

The water in the narrows is so blue-green where it gets deep.

Chuck and I made it all the way beyond the confluence to Wall Street, the very narrow section.

Our neighbor squirrel, that lived right outside our door at the lodge.

Deb in the deepest part. Thank goodness it wasn't that deep all along. Mom loaned us hiking sticks and we were glad to have them!

My Illustrated Diary

This is a little art project I have been doing, I had the printer I use for work cut art paper all the same size, I then illustrate a day in my life, these are days 1-9. I like how they work together. I used bristol board and colored pencils.

Jack is a sweet love.

Melissa LOVES Jack, Chandler, Brandon and Jessica came over to see the baby. This picture is Jack on JJ's lap trying to "knead" the air as he gets belly rubs. Chandler got emotional because Jack looks so much like Boo. Brandon stayed for lunch and we worked on his Craig's list posting.

Jack O'Lantern (Punkin')

Yesterday Chuck and I went on a really nice walk in Liberty Park, after we finished the Federal job applications, which took two of us, two entire days to complete. The park was beautiful! While we were there, we saw a young boy, about Chandler's age holding a kitten at arm's length, kind of mean like. I said, "What are you doing with that kitten?" He said, "You want it? I can't keep it." Chuck knew immediately that we would adopt him. Here he is a black Halloween kitten, named Jack O' Lantern (Jack) and while he's a baby I'll call him Punkin'. He is the best purr monster, kneads bread like crazy, and has such big paws, he will probably be a very big boy.

Fall colors

The back yard is coming along!

Chuck and I moved into our house in July 2007. The yard was just grass, since then we had a deck built, but before that we moved 10 yards of soil, and 10 yards of crushed rock into the backyard. We removed an old driveway, and an old broken paver patio, and saved all the stuff. This is October 2008, the broken pavers were used to edge and make little paths, the main patio is crused rock, and will eventually be shaded by the Catalpa trees (6 of them planted in rows to cover the patio). The rock wall is made of chunks of cement that would have been in hauled to the dump. The tent is our garage overflow!

Say Hello to Ivan (aka Mikey)

This is Ivan (aka Mikey). I adopted him because I adopted his sister, and I felt bad leaving him there. As it turns out, he is the world's best kitty. He acts like a dog, comes when you call, responds when you scold him, and begs for absolutely everything, even raw onions, which is how he got the nickname Mikey, (like the Life cereal ad "Give it to Mikey, he'll eat anything!"). This is him taking a snooze on the front porch, silly kitty!

Ivan "helping" remodel the kitchen.

He loves boxes and bags! During our move and remodel, he got inside this one, and stayed a while.

Ivan is climbing our 20' lean ladder, he is so smart, he saw birdies through the sky light, then went outside, climbed the ladder, and looked in at us from the roof!

It's for the birds

Photographing birds... I've done it once or twice! It sure is hard to get them to hold still!

Carpe Diem

Bird Refuge, Amazing!

I have always wanted to go see the swans migrating, at the Bear River Bird Refuge, but it is near Brigham City and about an hour from home. Yeasterday, I convinced Chuck to go with me, we packed wine, treats and the camera. The picture above should probably be in National Geographic! That is how many birds we saw, one.

Simon the Fat Wonder

This is Simon, he is sweet, calm, and devoted. he does not make trouble, just sleeps on the end of my bed, and protects me, from what, I do not know since he has no claws front or back! He is a Maine Coon cat and is really big! He is a scaredy cat, his mom and litter mates were killed, so he learned as a baby, if there is a scary sound, run and hide! Jessica adopted him from our vet.

Hazel needs Kitty Prozac

Hazel is one of my three cats, The other two Ivan (aka Mikey), and Simon, are males and get along with everybody, people, the local squirrel, dogs, everybody! But Hazel.... she is seriously whacked. She is scared to death that Ivan will "get" her, so she spends the day on the garage roof, or hiding. But she was an adorable kitten, and this picture is of her June 2006, sleeping in the napkin basket.

Every day is a winding road.

The Great Salt Lake is a really interesting place to go take pictures. The sun was just setting this day and it was reflecting in a salty pool of water. The blue one is just the ripples in the sand, formed by the "tide" in the lake.

Old stuff in SanPete

These old cans are near Fairview Canyon. There are thousands of them! Like an old can graveyard. The fall leaves were beautiful. The old rundown house is just one along Highway 89.

State fair winners!

I want everyone to know what an awesome gardener I am! NOT! I watered these flowers everyday all summer, and they have 10" leaves but 2" flowers! They are pretty though.

Today is my first posting.

It has been a beautiful fall! The spring was really wet, so the leaves this fall are glorious. This is a picture from Guardsman's Pass by our cabin.
